What happens to our booked course if the weather is bad?
“If the weather is above a certain wind speed, with the discretion of the instructor we will postpone your course to a later date when the winds are at a safer operating speed, but because of the sheltered nature of the marina this happens rarely.”

What are the new regulations for the current updated VHF Radio Course?
“The RYA have complied with the European regulations for the VHF Radio course this was completed January 2014, the course can now be two days depending on number of students attending.
The course is a ten hour course minus two – three hours of home study prior to the course, followed by an hour assessment and exam carried out by an external examiner.”
Do you provide foul weather gear?
“Yes we can provide foul weather gear, but if you have your own please use them.”
Do you supply life jackets for the course?
“Yes we supply our own life jackets for all practical courses; they are all serviced annually and kept to a high standard.”
Do the qualifications last a lifetime?
“Most courses will gain you a life time qualification, the qualifications/achievements that expire are the“–

Instructor’s ticket needs refreshing if you don’t teach after so many hours.
Is there a car parking facility?
“Yes the marina has a few CCTV monitored car parks; the automated barrier will read your number plate and log you, up to two hours are free.
Normal rate is £8 per day but as you are doing a course with us you will get the rate of £4 per day.”
Does it get cold on the boats?
“Yes no matter the weather we would recommend bringing spare clothes i.e., jumper, socks and T shirt, these can always stay in the classroom or your car, sunglasses and gloves are a must.”
Do you provide Lunch?
“On powerboat courses no we do not, there is a café and a bistro within the marina for you to have lunch, on some dedicated motor cruising courses yes a light lunch will be provided for you.
We do provide tea and coffee on all courses.”
What time am I expected to finish?
“Depending on the course you have enrolled onto, most of the courses aim to finish between 16:30 – 17:00.”
Do you provide own boat tuition?
“Yes we do offer own boat tuition, whether it’s to gain a qualification or gain confidence handling your vessel, we can help you with this.”
Are there toilet facilities?
“Yes there are berth holder facilities which have toilets and showers, we will show you where they are and allow you the key card to access them.”
What is the pass rate?
“We will endeavour to make all students pass, if this is not the case we will offer private tuition to help you gain your desired qualification.”
