Quality RYA Powerboat Training from Beginner to Advanced Commercial

RYA Advanced Powerboat Course & Commercial Endorsement
at Plymouth Powerboat School, Devon & Cornwall

Our RYA Advanced Power Boat course covers boat handling, seamanship, day & night pilotage and coastal navigation up to the standards required to drive a powerboat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters.

Entry requirements: Knowledge of navigation and chartwork to the level of Day Skipper Shorebased together with the Intermediate powerboat course or equivalent driving experience.  A First Aid qualification and VHF radio licence are also required.

Minimum age: 17

Course duration: 2 days – 09:30 to 17:00 on day 1 and 09:30 to 4 hours after dark on day 2 (involves a very late finish in June!)

Course fee: £300 per person / £550 with 1:1 tuition / £700 for 3 students / £450 on your own boat (upto 3 people)
Prices include VAT, RYA Powerboat Logbook, Certificate (on successful completion), All Fuel (except own boat courses), Tea & Coffee, Hire of Waterproofs and Lifejacket

Dates: We train 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Courses can usually be arranged on a date of your choice

Commercial Endorsement Exam / Skippers Licence: Required if you wish to skipper an MCA coded boat upto 24m in length upto Category 3 (20 miles from a safe haven, day and night).  You will need a medical, sea survival certificate, 400 logged miles and 12 night hours (in addition to the sea time on the course).  The cost is £150 for the use of our boat plus £130 RYA exam fee
